Sherborn Police Log: An Arrest, Gun Shots Heard and Drive Sober Results
The following information was provided by the Sherborn Police Department. When an arrest is mentioned it does not indicate a conviction.
Wednesday, September 19
Fake Sweepstakes (12:59 p.m.) - A Wildwood Dr. resident came into the police station to report that she had received a letter in the mail stating that she had won a sweepstakes with a check for $5,000. The reporting party knew she had not signed up for any sweepstakes and that this must be a scam. The police destroyed the letter and the check.

Gun Shots Heard (1:35 a.m.) - A Western Ave. resident reported that he heard two or three gunshots nearby. Officers responded, but it appeared the person was gone on arrival.
ARREST (8:21 a.m.) - After a motor vehicle crash on North Main St., James Duffy of Natick was arrested and charged with Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Marked Lanes Violation and Impeded Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

In August, the Sherborn Police Department participated in the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign. Sherborn Police set up three separate checkpoints during this period of time and handed out 39 citations. While none of those citations was for an OUI, 15 were for speeding. The rest were for various traffic infractions, such as marked lane violations and failure to yield.
