Sunday Mulch Fire On Spywood Road In Sherborn Comes Close To Barn

The Sunday morning mulch fire at an unoccupied house on Spywood Road in Sherborn was spotted by a neighbor walking by.

A mulch fire Sunday morning at Spywood Road in Sherborn could have been worse as the fire came in contact with the concrete foundation of a barn, according to the Sherborn Fire Department.

“We’re not sure how it actually started, the house is unoccupied. A neighbor spotted it while they were out for a walk,” said Acting Fire Chief Josh Buckler. “It would have involved the building had it evolved much further.”

“It came in contact with the cement foundation of the building, not anything wood or anything flammable. It was right up against it,” Buckler said.

It took the Fire Department about 20 minutes to put the fire out, according to Buckler, who said it burned about a 25x10 foot patch of mulch and vegetation.
