Commonwealth to Honor Army Staff Sgt. Alan L. Snyder Thursday

Governor Patrick has ordered the American and Commonwealth Flags lowered to half-staff Thursday to honor Army Staff Sgt. Alan L. Snyder.

Flags will be lowered to half staff this Thursday for Staff Sergeant Alan L. Snyder, 28-years-old of Blackstone Massachusetts, who died in Afghanistan on June 18, 2011.

Governor Patrick has ordered the American and Commonwealth Flags lowered to half-staff on Thursday, July 28 from sunrise to sunset in honor of Staff Sergeant Alan Snyder. 

Staff Sergeant Snyder was assigned to 4th Battalion, 70th Armor Regiment, 170th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Baumholder, Germany. He died on June 18 in Uruzgan province, Afghanistan, of injuries suffered during a vehicle rollover. Also killed were Army Sgt. 1st Class Alvin A. Boatwright, Army Sgt. Edward F. Dixon III and Army Spc. Tyler R. Kreinz.

This gubernatorial order applies to:

1. The main or administration building of each public institution of the Commonwealth, e.g. town and city halls
