Dover 175th Anniversary Committee Planning For Fireworks During Celebration
The celebration will take place on October 1.
The Dover 175th Anniversary Committee discussed the possibility of including a fireworks display as part of the celebration with Dover Deputy Fire Chief Dave Tiberi.
The celebration will be on Saturday, Oct. 1. “The only place is the high school,” said Tiberi regarding the best place to have the fireworks show.
If the committee can afford fireworks they would like them to be at the field behind the tennis courts. Tiberi told the committee they would need to speak with the police chief and get permission from the regional school district superintendent.

He said they used the same spot at the town’s 150th anniversary and “it worked out relatively well.” Tiberi also noted that during the fall that field will be used on Saturday by local teams. He said once the fireworks are on premises everyone will have to be removed from the field, a firetruck will have to come on to the field and a crew of firemen will stay with the fireworks until the show.
The committee has not yet secured a licensed person to perform the show, nor have they found out the cost.

“I think you’ll have a very big crowd,” said Tiberi, basing his statement on crowd from the last anniversary and the idea that there are not many events going on in the fall in Dover.
Committee member Wendy Bornstein said she created a Facebook page to keep the community updated.
Committee member Jonathan Fryer said there may be enough money to hire two local bands. The committee decided that at that the beginning of the evening there will be “an old fashioned picnic” and music.
