Dover Warrant Committee Prepares For Town Meeting

The Dover Warrant Committee met, on Wednesday, to finalize their bluebook before the Town Meeting after the Dover-Sherborn Regional School Committee voted on their $20,135,947 budget.

Chairman of the Warrant Committee Peter Smith said that he was happy to hear that Superintendent Valerie Spriggs was able to find more money for the budget and still provide level service.

He added that the region’s E&D fund will still be “quite comfortable” after the sum total of $400,000 is put towards their operational budget.

Dave Melville, committee member and Smith discussed making sure that the blue books, that will be mailed to each resident, will have the numbers consistent with the numbers certified by the Regional School Committee at their April 5 meeting. 

The Warrant Committee members lauded Regional School Committee Chairman Robyn Hunter for her ability to navigate the difficult issues presented at the weekly meetings over the past several weeks. 

Smith advised committee members to bring their paper work from their weekly meetings to the annual town meeting in order to comfortably answer questions for inquiring residents.

The Warrant Committee has been meeting every Wednesday at the Dover Town House since the beginning of January and announced that if it is possible they may not meet on Wednesday, April 13.

If not they will announce cancellation no earlier then Tuesday, April 12.
