Linsky Named 2014 Representative of the Year

Association of Developmental Disabilities Providers says Linsky has a "personal commitment to the cause of social justice."

During its annual legislative luncheon held at the Great Hall in the State House on Jan. 29, the Association of Developmental Disabilities Providers (ADDP) presented state Rep. David Linsky, D-Natick, with the "Representative of the Year" award.

Linsky was selected to receive this honor because of his leadership role in protecting and advancing the interests of direct support workers. He has been the primary sponsor for obtaining funding in the House Budget for a salary reserve for direct care human service workers for several years. His efforts have successfully resulted in improving the lives of thousands of human service workers across the Commonwealth.

The 2014 ADDP House of Representatives Legislator of the Year Award was presented to Linsky by Diane Gould, president and CEO of Advocates, Inc., of Framingham.  Gould saluted Linsky noting "his strong commitment to individuals with developmental disabilities, and his tireless advocacy for the workforce that supports them has garnered the respect and gratitude of the entire disability community.”

Gary Blumenthal, ADDP President & CEO, further stated: "Rep. David Linsky's leadership on this matter cannot be understated. His personal commitment to the cause of social justice has earned him the thanks of our membership."

Representing 130 members, the ADDP is a diverse group of community-based providers of services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities. The membership holds more than 95 percent of the Department of Developmental Service's community residential, day and family support contracts. ADDP has and continues to aggressively work to resolve the serious workforce issues that pertain to providers that support individuals with developmental disabilities and brain injuries.
