Senator Ross Announces Assistance After Tropical Storm Irene

Note: The following is from the office of Senator Richard Ross.

Senator Richard Ross (R-Wrentham) would like to inform his constituents who receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits of an opportunity to receive reimbursements for food lost during Tropical Storm Irene. Requests for this funding must be received by September 9, 2011.

“Many of my constituents have lost all of their food due to the extensive time without power,” said Senator Ross. “This is an option which would allow them to get back on their feet following such a terrible hardship.”

To request a reimbursement, contact your SNAP case manager. To determine who your case manager is, please call (508) 884-5300 and provide the receptionist with your social security number. You will then be connected to your SNAP case manager. To qualify, you will need to complete and return a “Statement of Loss/Request for Replacement of Food Due to Household Disaster/Misfortune” form to the Department of Transitional Assistance. If you do not have a statement from your power company, DTA can contact the company for confirmation.
