D-S Fields Project Set to Begin After School Year

The D-S Boosters have raised $1 million for the project so far through private donations.

The following was provided by the D-S Boosters.

The D-S Athletic Campus Master Plan project is moving forward with the goal of the initial work to begin as soon as school is dismissed for the summer. Because the fund raising campaign is off to a strong start with $1 million dollars of private funding being donated by a small group of generous residents, discussions are underway with constructions firms to finalize the timing for the work contemplated in Phase 1 of the plan.

Phase 1 includes replacing the current grass stadium field with synthetic turf, minor repairs to the track, and re-grading one of the Booster Fields.  Construction will take place over the summer with a completion projected by this Fall.

“I continue to be amazed at the tremendous support that the community gives to the sports programs at DS” stated Heath Rollins, DSHS Athletic Director.  “DS is serious about sports and the entire community should benefit from the improvements being made to the region's athletic complex” he went on to state.

Phase 2 includes moving the current four tennis courts and building two new ones, improving the baseball / softball fields, and reconstructing the Junction Street field.
