Dover-Sherborn High Among Top 5 Massachusetts High Schools

Dover-Sherborn High School has been ranked among the top five high schools in the state in a national ranking of high schools released today.

Dover-Sherborn High School has been ranked among the best schools in the country in a review by U.S. News.

Dover-Sherborn High was ranked 132nd among schools nationally and at fourth place among Massachusetts high schools. Sturgis Charter Public School in Hyannis took the top spot, at 31st nationally, with Boston Latin School claiming the second place and the 57th place nationally.

“We are delighted and I have to say that I give a lot of credit to our very dedicated faculty," said Denise Lonergan, headmaster at Dover-Sherborn High School.

Lonergan said the success Dover-Sherborn High School can be attributed to an outpouring of support from the community, motivating teachers and students to perform at an elite level. 

"It's all about relationships," said Lonergan. "We have a highly qualified and dedicated staff that go above and beyond."

The U.S. News worked with the American Institutes for Research, a D.C.-based organization, to evaluate the overall performance of the schools. This evaluation takes into account overall student performance, according to U.S. News, including how students do on standardized tests. Learn more about the ranking system here.

More than 21,000 schools were analyzed for the national ranking. The full 2013 ranking is available on the U.S. News website.

A recent ranking also placed AMSA among the healthiest school districts in Massachusetts.
