Have you ever wondered what it would be like to travel around the world?

The AFS Club of Dover Sherborn High School is very excited to share an extraordinary program.  Join us on Thursday, February 9th at 7:00 pm in Dover Sherborn High School's Mudge Auditorium for a presentation by the White family of Dover. The 6Explorers will share highlights of their 2010-2011 journey around the world.  (www.6explorers.com)
In June 2010, this family of six began their year away from day-to-day routines, setting out to explore places they had seen previously only in books.  In planning their itinerary, their main objective was to help their four children become global citizens and appreciate what the world has to offer.  Traveling to places outside of the typical tourist map, they focused on locations that might not be the same in twenty years.  In 31 countries across all seven continents, they experienced and learned about many different cultures .  Parents Dana and Greg White worked with the Dover-Sherborn school administration to make this year an educational experience that could be incorporated into their children's academic requirements.  Alex (who missed grade 8), Emma (grade 6) and twin boys, Andrew and Reis(grade 5) were "road-schooled" and rejoined their cohorts this fall.  The Whites' experience goes far beyond the classroom, and they are very excited to share highlights of this special year with the DS community.  Photos.  Videos.  Stories.  This is a program you will not want to miss!
The DS AFS club is an organization at the high school that seeks to raise global and cultural awareness and help make our students better global citizens. Annually, 2-4 international students attend DSHS as exchange students.  The AFS program finds host families at DSHS for the academic year as well as encourages our own students to study abroad.  All students involved have the opportunity for a full cultural and academic immersion.  Each November, the DS club also hosts an AFS weekend for students from all over the world who are living in Eastern Massachusetts and Southern New England for the current academic year.  The international students gather with their American peers to share perspectives on their own customs and their adjustment to the US.
In learning about the White's journey, the AFS club thought it would be extremely educational for Dover and Sherborn community members to hear about their explorations and then learn about AFS and its global opportunities.   This event will raise funds to support the mission of the DSHS AFS club as well as Children in the Wilderness-Zimbabwe, one of several organizations the Whites supported during their journeys.  Suggested donation will be $5 for students and $10 for adults, or $25 for families.
We hope to see you on Thursday February 9th at 7pm.Gracias.  Oku Heba.  Terima Kasih.  Dhanyevad.  Thank you.
