Signing Day For Three D-S High Soccer Standouts

Three student-athletes from D-S committed to Division I soccer programs today.

Tuesday was signing day for three Dover-Sherborn senior soccer stars who all committed to play for Division I colleges next year.

Cameron Bielski committed to the University of New Hampshire, Alyssa D'Arcy will play at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and Jessica Goudreault will be going to Providence College in the fall.

They gathered in the library at the Dover-Sherborn Regional High School where they announced where they will be attending college in the fall and took pictures with family, friends, and teammates.

“It’s great. We're a pretty small school, so to have three student-athletes excelling in their sport, I think is tremendous for the community." said D-S athletic director Heath Rollins. "It shows a lot of commitment from the youth program through the high school, their growth, their talent level, the commitment from their parents who take them around. So it really is a community thing.”

All three said they feel like they made the right decision with the schools they chose.

Bielski said that out of the options he had, UNH was the best fit for him.

“It came down to a few schools, UMass Amherst, Boston University, and UNH. But I like the recruiting class, the coaches, the relationship I had with the team. It just felt right,” he said.

Goudreault visited a couple schools in North Carolina but in the end picked Providence College.

“Well, I went for a visit and got a tour with an assistant coach around the school, and I immediately fell in love with it. It was a perfect fit for me. It’s not too big, not too small. It’s exactly what I was looking for," Goudreault said. “I had a couple options in North Carolina. I was offered some money there but it just didn’t feel right when I went for a visit. And I went back and I still wasn’t very happy with the school.”

For D'Arcy the choice was a little easier for her because of the school's proximity to home and the fact that some of her friends already go to UMass.

“I picked it because I love the school, first of all, and it was close to home and the soccer program just fit perfectly really,” she said. “I know a couple of the girls, so they kind of helped me know what to do and the experience of it all, so that was great.”

All three student-athletes said they were going to miss their time at D-S and their teammates on the soccer teams.

“Everything! I’m going to miss the coaches, my team, just everything about it. Going to school everyday with the kids you’re playing with. The kids I grew up with, playing with them, I’m going to miss that, it was so much fun,” Bielski said.

Rollins was proud to see them make it to the point they are at right now.

“They’re all good kids and good students and they’ll do well. So I’m glad they found a fit that allows them to play soccer and challenge them academically,” he said.

He also said that they will be keeping an eye on how they do for their new Division I teams.

“We keep track of them,” Rollins said. “We always hang up a few articles when they do well.”
