D-S Drops Fourth Straight in Loss to Norton

D-S has now lost six of their last seven games.

The D-S boys' varsity basketball team continued their slide Tuesday night losing for the fourth time in as many games, 74-63, at home to Norton.

The Raiders played a competitive first half but their inconsistency on offense led to the Lancers win. Norton upped their record to 10-1 in the Tri-Valley League this season - D-S handed them their only loss earlier in the year.

The Raiders played solid defense but had no answer for Norton's star guard Steve Burrill who led all scorers with monstrous 31 points in the game.

Burrill scored 19 points in the second half including 11 points in the fourth quarter. He also hit five three-pointers in the game.

Ned Linehan led the way for D-S with 18 points on the night, despite not scoring in the first quarter.

Center Brian Thompson - who joined the team mid-season - also played well for D-S scoring 10 points. D-S head coach Rick Grady was pleased with Thompson's performance.

“Brian had his best game of the season. You could see it happening in practices,” said Grady. “He did a nice job offensively and he had a couple of offensive rebounds. He’s done a good job and did a good job defensively as well.”

“He can change some shots, he probably had three or four blocks as well so he has good timing defensively,” Grady said.

D-S (6-7) will be back in action on Friday night on the road against rival Medfield at 6:30 p.m.
