D-S Loses Big to Big Blue

D-S cut the deficit to 4 points but couldn't keep pace with Medfield.

The D-S Raiders boys' basketball team lost a topsy turvy game to rival Medfield Friday night, 66-46.

The Raiders found themselves down 38-21 at halftime, managing only 11 points in the first quarter and 10 points in the second quarter.

Medfield scored 20 points in the first quarter.

D-S rallied however, coming roaring out of the gates after halftime hitting their first four shots, all three-pointers. The Raiders had five field goals in the third quarter, all threes, which cut the Medfield lead down to four points.

Medfield withstood the barrage of shots from beyond the arc by a strong effort from senior forward Sam Tawa.

Despite a tough effort from D-S the Warriors were able to increase their lead to as many as 20 points and take the win from their TVL rivals.

Medfield had a balanced attack on offense with four players with double-digits in scoring, led by junior guard Johnny McCarthy.

The leading scorer for the Raiders was captain Nate Jenkins with 11 points.

The Raiders are now 6-8 on the season while Medfield increased their record to 9-5 on the year.

The loss is the Raiders fifth straight and sixth of their last seven games.

D-S will be on the road in Bellingham on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
