Letter to the Editor: Pancakes, Athletes and Community

DS Boosters President Bill Scatchard wishes to thank everyone in the Dover-Sherborn community.

A sincere note of gratitude from the DS Boosters to the entire Dover Sherborn community.  This past Thanksgiving Holiday season, the DS Boosters assembled a team of dedicated sports enthusiasts to celebrate a special time of the year. In a two day span, there were 82 volunteers that came forward to lend a hand on the festivities, 630 students and athletes participating in one form or fashion and 180 people from our community enjoying a feast before the Thanksgiving Day football game.

It all started on Wednesday with the Annual Thanksgiving Pep Rally at the Dover Sherborn High School gymnasium.   Many accolades were given, a lot of support and dedication noted and a chance to gather not only as a fine institution of learning, but as accomplished athletes as well.

An event later in the day called on DSHS Football Alumni to gather and socialize, perhaps reconnect and tell the stories once again.

Moving into the evening, there was the barbeque that lent itself to tasty treats and some finger-licking smiles.  Then the Pep Rally as the sun set followed by the Annual Bonfire to make it fun and make it special.

A new event, the annual Community Pancake Breakfast was held Thursday morning and was a smashing success.  Over 900 chocolate chip and blueberry pancakes were whipped up and gobbled up.  Tasty sausages and various juices were also served.

Then onto the football game where our team met our annual opponents for some fun and spirited hikes, kicks and runs.

The DS Boosters are proud to make a difference in our community.  The support from all parts of our community is truly amazing at times.  From volunteers, to participants, to donors, to local businesses, collectively we continue to build a community that we are all proud of and that we will forever have connections no matter where we travel, no matter where we are.

A very proud,

Bill Scatchard

DS Boosters President
