PHOTOS: D-S Field Hockey Sweeps Medfield in Season Series

For the second time this season, D-S shut out Medfield; winning 2-0 Friday.

Entering Friday's game, the Medfield field hockey team had just one loss in 10 Tri-Valley League games this season – a 1-0 loss to Dover-Sherborn on Sept. 27. On Friday, Medfield suffered its second TVL loss of the year, a 2-0 defeat to D-S at the MHS Turf.

"That first goal ... it was 0-0 at half ... whoever got that first goal, the other team was going to get down," said Medfield head coach Mike Mason.

"Medfield always plays aggressive so it was good to get this one," said D-S coach Dara Johnson.

After a scoreless first half, Dover-Sherborn got that crucial first goal off the stick of Andrea Marx with 23:03 remaining in the second half. Less than four minutes later, Meg Nolan scored on a ball misplayed by the Medfield defense, sneaking past Warriors' goalkeeper Carrie Cook with 19:37 to play.

"Two evenly matched teams, our goalie played great," Johnson said. "We knew it would be a good game. Everyone stepped up and played well. It was definitely a total team effort."
