Pine Hill Student Races To First Place In New Hampshire State Championships

Fifth grader Macklin Fitzpatrick will compete in the Francis Piche Invitational Championships in New Hampshire this weekend.

Sherborn's own Macklin Fitzpatrick, a 5th grader at Pine Hill School, won the 2011 Buddy Werner League (BWL) New Hampshire State Championships in the slalom. The event was held at Attitash Mountain in Bartlett NH on March 12 and 13. 

The best skiers at the J5 (ages 9 & 10) and J4 (ages 11 & 12) level throughout New Hampshire participated.

Macklin, who represented Franconia Ski Club from Cannon Mountain in Franconia NH, competed against 100 other male athletes to take first place in this event.

Macklin will go on as a member of the New Hampshire State Team at the J5 level to compete in the Francis Piche Invitational Championships, to be held at Gunstock Mountain in Gilford, NH this weekend, March 19th and 20th.

He and his team will be competing against skiers from other eastern states, ranging from Maine to Virginia, in a giant slalom race.
