Raiders Football Team Drops Season Opener At Nauset

D-S fell to Nauset 41-7 Friday night in North Eastham.

Under new head coach Joseph Schotland, the D-S Raiders football team did not open their season as they would have liked. The team lost to Nauset Regional High School 41-7 Friday night in North Eastham.

With Nauset, a Division 2 team and D-S a Division 4 team, Schotland said that the lopsided score did not reflect how his team played.

"I thought our kids played hard," Schotland said. "We were out there hitting well. It was closer how the score indicated."

After the game Schotland said that Nauset head coach Keith Kenyon approached him and told him that he was impressed with the physical play of the Raiders.

With the loss, Schotland said the Raiders have some work to do before their next game.

"I think we have a lot to work on. We have to work on our tackling," he said.

D-S wide reciever Keaton Stoner scored the Raiders touchdown on a 25 yard pass reception from quarterback Will Scatchard.

The Raiders next game will be at home against Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational School on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
