First there was $1 Beard Night — entrance to a Sox game for a dollar if youwere sporting a beard — now there is free entry to a Red Sox practice on Wednesday.

The playoff bound Red Sox open their scheduled workout at Fenway park tomorrow afternoon, Oct. 2.

The workout starts at 2 p.m. and is expected to run until 5 or 6 p.m.  Season ticket holders, children, students, and neighbors are particularly invited to watch from seats between the bases at no charge.  Concession stands will be open, and no tickets are required.

“Inviting members of the Red Sox family – our season ticket holders, area students, children, and neighbors – to Fenway Park for this opportunity is a small way for us to thank them for their support this season,” said Red Sox President/CEO Larry Lucchino.

“This is a special time and a special team, and we hope some in our community will be able to see our players in this casual, informal workout setting.”

Entertainment for children, who are welcome after school, includes face painters (specializing in beards), balloon artists, and popular stilt-walker Big League Brian.

Fans can enter Fenway Park at Gate D starting at 2 p.m.

The Red Sox are scheduled to play the winner of tomorrow night’s Wild Card game between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Cleveland Indians starting at 3:07 p.m. this Friday, October 4, at Fenway Park.

Gates will open two hours before game time for all American League Division Series games.
