UFC 131 To Feature D-S High Alum Kenny Florian

Florian will face-off against Diego Nunes at 9:00 p.m. tonight at UFC 131. This will be Kenny's first fight at the featherweight division.

Dover native and UFC standout Kenny Florian will be fighting at UFC 131 tonight in a bout against Diego Nunes in Vancouver, British Columbia at 9:00 p.m.

The D-S High School graduate and former soccer captain has dropped his weight class and will be fighting in the 145-pound featherweight division for the first time.

At yesterday's weigh-in Kenny wore a Boston Bruins jersey much to the ire of the Canucks fans in the crowd.

Florian has a record of 15-5-0 and has been in two fights for the UFC Lightweight Championship, losing both times. He was catapulted into the mixed martial arts scene after appearing on the first season of the show The Ultimate Fighter, making to the final round before falling to his opponent Diego Sanchez.

Nunes has a record of 16-1-0 and is known as a very good standup fighter. Florian's strengths are his brazilian jiu-jitsu-style fighting and his devastating elbow strikes.

“Kenny’s looking to prove something on June 11th,” said Keith Florian, Kenny’s brother and BJJ coach, on Florian's website.

UFC 131 will be televised on pay-per-view.
