Viewfinder: Boys Soccer Loses Heartbreaker on Penalty Kicks

The Raiders fell, 2-1, in a penalty kick shootout, ending their season.

The D-S boys varsity soccer team fell to Cardinal Spellman 2-1 after penalty kick in the Div. 3 South Sectional Finals Sunday.

The thrilling game was tied 1-1 after double overtime when the teams brought out their best shooters for a penalty kick shootout.

Each team had five penalty kick goals apeice when the Raiders eigth penalty shooter Chris Flight kicked the ball wide-left missing the net.

Cardinal Spellman senior Robert Studley then kicked the ball past D-S keeper Brian Hands to seal the win for the Cardinals.

A lot of the Raiders broke down on the field after the deciding kick as their season and defense of their Div. 3 state title came to an end.
