Nearly 20 Sherborn Residents to Ride in 33rd PMC in August

The group will join 42 registered riders from Dover in the annual event.

Another summer is upon us, and within nearly a month's time, 18 residents from Sherborn will be pedaling in the 33rd annual Pan-Massachusetts Challenge, which takes place on Aug. 4 and 5.

The group of riders will take to the streets .

Riders from both towns are joining others from surrounding communities in the event with a collective goal of raise $36 million to support adult and pediatric cancer research and treatment at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the Jimmy Fund. PMC riders range in age from 13 to 88. Some are seasoned tri-athletes while others are weekend warriors having trained for this event alone.

“The PMC is the gold standard of athletic fundraising events,” Billy Starr, PMC founder and executive director, said in a statement. “PMCers are as committed to raising money for cancer research as they are to pedaling the miles. PMC cyclists are all heart and soul.”
