A Cheer for a Different DS

Dover Sherborn Cheerleaders will rally support for the annual Buddy Walk on October 7

On Sunday October 7 the DSHS cheerleaders will be rallying support for a different team than the DS Raiders.  They have been invited to mentor young cheer teams from across the state and rouse support for walkers in a fundraising walk to support and fight Down Syndrome called the Buddy Walk.   Invited to participate in Amanda and Ava’s Angels team the cheerleaders will have the opportunity to meet with and help lead the festivities spearheaded by Lauren Potter,  better known as Becky on the hit TV series Glee where she plays a cheerleader for the Cheerios with DS.

Realizing the synergy of having the cheer team rally support and the recognition Lauren’s name would bring to this event,  chairperson Kathy Horrigan invited the DS Cheer team to participate after having her own young daughter Amanda participate in a cheerclinic run by the team their hometown last spring. When Kathy invited the girls to participate in this worthwhile cause there was no absolutely no hesitation.  The cheer team will be teaching basic cheers and chanting near the mainstage through the walk while many participates will have the opportunity to have a photo taken with Lauren.  (They also invite anyone interested to also be in a photo with the team. )
