Cheering in the Rain......

upcoming events for DS cheer

Despite pouring rain the DSHS Cheerleading team was out on the field last night arrousing support for the DS Raiders against Bellingham.  Although the number of fans was smaller than usual and the score did not warrant pushups by the girls they happily smiled and rallied support for the team on this wet, bleak night.

Many of the evenings festivities including a cheer clinic and middle school flag football game had to be postponed until October 12 due to the weather and this disappointed many.  We are hoping the worst of the weather is behind us and the last two homegames of the regular season on October 5 and 12 will be able to be played with dryer conditions.

Next Friday evening October 5 is a very special night.  The DS Boosters have invited all high school varsity teams and the community to join together as the new turf field is dedicated in memory of Nora Searle.  Nora would have been a freshman at DS this fall, however tragically lost a long hard battle to cancer.  One of the major gifts that enabled the completion of the field was given in her memory and thus the field is being dedicated as such.    Please mark your calendar and don't miss this memorable event starting next Friday at 7:00pm.

The following week October 12 will be the rescheduled cheerclinic for students in grades 3-5 as well as a middle school flag football event.  If you have a child who would like to participate in the cheer clinic feel free to email Wendy at wsbornstein@gmail.com for a registration form.  The cost of the clinic is $25 and runs from 4pm-6:30.  The girls will help cheer during the scheduled football game at half time and for the middleschool flag football event.

The DSHS cheerleaders hope to see you at these exciting programs as well as the upcoming away games that can be found on the high school website.  In addition they will look forward to a big crowd for the bonfire and final home game against Medfield on Thanksgiving.
