Time Out With Grandkids-attention COA members

Dover and Sherborn COA members looking for a good way to spend some quality family time with the Grandkids? Want to take them to a special treat on Sat. May 19. Read on about Ramona Quimby.

Looking for a fun way to spend some quality time with your grandchildren? Come meet the world’s most lovable but exasperating third grader when she and her friends visit Dover Sherborn High School on Saturday May 19 at 2pm as a stop along the sixth month touring route of Ramona Quimby.    This tour was recently in Boston at the Berkelee Performance Center as well as locations up and down the east coast as far South as Miami/Ft. Lauderdale and west as Detroit Michigan . Well now it is being brought to you here in Dover.

Time Out for Kids, a high school club who’s motto is “kids helping kids” is offering COA members in Dover and Sherborn the opportunity to bring their grandchildren to see the TheaterworksUSA/Two Bean Production of Ramona Quimby at the high school as a great way to have “time out with grandkids".  Tickets are $15 each and one complimentary ticket per family will be given to COA members with the purchase of a ticket for their grandchild.  Proceeds from this event are earmarked to help support children in the Agahozo Shalom Youth Village.  Many of these children were victims who lost everything during the recent genocide in Rwanda.

Ramona has been a favorite of elementary school readers since the 1955 publication of Newbery Award-winning writer Beverly Cleary’s Beezus and Ramona.  This show is appropriate for elementary age children and adults of all ages. To take advantage of this special offer please contact Wendy at dstickets@gmail.com. All other tickets can be purchased online at www.ticketstage.com  or at the Dover Deli.   For special group rates you can also email dstickets@gmail.com.  Come help "Time Out for Kids" while creating your own special memories taking "Time Out with Grandkids"

TheaterworksUSA toured director Rob Barron’s production of Ramona Quimby from  September 1998 through May 2007. In September 2011, Two Beans Productions (under Barron’s Artistic Direction) launched a new national tour of this play (based on the original Theatreworks staging and production design) to introduce a new generation of children to Beverly Cleary’s classic characters. Cleary’s award-winning books were dramatized by Obie-winning playwright Len Jenkin, and incidental music for this production is by Daniel Messé. The production is directed by Two Beans Productions artistic director Rob Barron (Theatreworks USA’s Charlotte’s Web, Romeo & Juliet, Two Beans’ Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, James & the Giant Peach), with costume designs by Anne-Marie Wright and scenic design by John Farrell. This 60- minute, intermissionless play, featuring five actors, is appropriate for ages 6 and up.
