POLL: Do You See Bicycling as a Problem in the Dover-Sherborn Area?

Sometimes it's difficult for automobiles to share New England country roads with bicyclists. Do you think it's a problem in Dover or Sherborn?

With the summer months comes an increase in bicyclists sharing the road, and with that – accidents.  The issue of bicycle safety came to the forefront in June, when two bicyclists were struck by a motor vehicle on Dedham Street. One of the cyclists was transported to a Boston hospital via a MedFlight helicopter. The issue is not just in Dover and Sherborn but is region-wide, as cyclists and auto drivers try – and sometimes "fight" – to enjoy the beautiful New England terrain.  Some may even see cyclists as a menace to their roads – sometimes derogatorily referring to them as “lycra men” who swoop in as a pack, clog up the roadways, and don’t spend any money in town -- while others are unphased by them and/or see them as a boon to the local…

Not sure how to answer this one... The article is so obviously biased in the way it was written. I could answer the poll either way, the way it is written, but probably not intended based on the article slant. Yes, I see Bicycling as a problem in the area = it is hard to ride safely with the distracted drivers and poor planning that has been done to build access for everyone that has legal access…   more ›
