1. The Powisset Farm Stand is open today from 1:30-6:30. Located at 37 Powisset Street in Dover, they sell their own farm produce, as well as local eggs, meat, fish, honey, jam and a whole lot more. 2. Construction to install a new oil tank for the Caryl Community Center in Dover is scheduled to begin on August 10. When construction is started the power will be cut to the building because of digging that needs to take place. During this time period the Parks & Recreation office staff will be relocated to the Lower Town Hall while the power is out. Bielat will be seeking the Republican nomination for the 4th Congressional District House Seat.
The Dover Republican Town Committee will be meeting on Monday, Feb. 13 at 7:00 p.m. on the second floor of the Caryl Community Center. Sean Bielat will be the guest speaker. Bielat has announced that he will be seeking the Republican nomination for the 4th Congressional District House Seat currently held by Barney Frank who will not be seeking reelection this November. The 4th Congressional District includes Dover, Sherborn, Needham, Millis and several other towns. Bielat will be a candidate in the Republican primary to be held on Sept. 6, 2012. In light of the unexpected replacement of the oil tank at the Community Center, the Selectmen nixed plans to have fireworks at Dover's 175th Anniversary celebration.
The Dover Board of Selectmen voted to approve an unanticipated project in the Town’s budget Thursday evening. Town Administrator Dave Ramsey told the Board that the oil tank underneath the Caryl Community Center needs to be replaced, a project that will cost approximately $166,000. Ramsay said they were alerted to an issue with the oil tank and it turned out not to be the tank itself, but pipes leading to the tank. He said the cost to fix only the pipes would be approximately $20,000. He added that the tank is over 30-years-old and may fail within the next three to five years. Ramsay said they have the option of putting a 1,300-gallon tank inside the Community Center, but it would be significantly smaller than what they have now. He said …
