Citizens for the Preservation of Caryl Park member Elisha Lee has spoken powerfully about a project being promoted by Dover Parks and Recreation to construct, with private funds, new playing fields in Caryl Park, converting acreage currently devoted to passive recreation. (2/23/12, “Dover group speaks out against Caryl Park athletics fields plan,” Wicked Local Dover). I wish to associate myself with the view that taxpayers deserve the opportunity to endorse or defeat such an initiative, especially if the cost of maintaining the facilities would fall to them a decade or so down the road. Do you think the raised crosswalk on Dedham Street in Dover near Caryl Park is necessary or not?
Tuesday night there was a public forum in Dover to discuss a recent traffic and noise level study done by a private company hired by the town. Many residents were concerned about the raised crosswalk on Dedham Street in Dover at Caryl Park saying that it created too much noise and affected the quality of life of those who live near the park. The crosswalk is also helpful to those who are walking from the park to the sidewalk across the street and vice versa. We want to know what you think.
Residents disagree with the acoustical engineer's findings that the raised crosswalk on Dedham Street does not make decibel levels significantly higher.

Much of the study was centered on Caryl Park and its planned expansion of the fields and building of a new facility. Many residents have concerns over increased traffic and the raised …

I'm hoping the recent response from Rich Oasis will lead to a substantive dialogue between proponents and opponents of this project. Including how to best fund the project...privately, public/private, or publically. While there are good and …   more ›
