How to Get Your Sports Team Featured on Patch

Here are several ways you can make sure your sports teams are highlighted on Dover-Sherborn Patch.

Fall sports will soon be kicking into high gear and Patch wants to help you share every exciting moment with the community. We are looking for athletes, coaches, parents, booster club members and fans who are ready, willing and able to share their team spirit on Patch. News about any team -- high school, middle school, rec teams, etc. -- is welcome! Here's how you can share news about your sports team: 1. D-S Boys' Lax Draws Number One Seed, First Round Bye in Tournament

The Dover-Sherborn High boys' lacrosse team (15-4) drew the number one seed in the D. 3 East Tournament.

The D-S boys' lacrosse team will get a first round in the Division 3 East Tournament after drawing the number one seed, the MIAA announced Friday. The Raiders finished the season with a record of 15-4 and a share of the Tri-Valley League title with Medfield. Throughout the season D-S had winning streaks of seven and eight, respectively. However, they ended the season with two straight losses to Medfield and Franklin. The Raiders will play the winner of Tuesday's preliminary round matchup between Minuteman and Swampscott. Boys' and Girls' Track Take 7th in TVL Championship

Westwood won the boys' meet while Hopkinton took first place in the girls' meet.

The D-S boys' and girls' varsity track teams finished seventh at Wednesday's TVL Championships. The Raiders had several strong performances on the day including the boys' 4x100 team who had a second place finish (46.66). The boys' best performances came in the throwing events. Dan Carrol finished second in the discus (129-09) and Chris Chislom finished second in the javelin (158-02). On the girls’ side, Chandler Wood’s time of 60.72 in the 400 was good enough for second place in the event. Olivia Cannon and Julia Pearson took second (11:21.63) and fourth (12:00.32) in the two-mile run. Girls' Top Finishes: Boys' Top Finishes The Raiders will compete in the D4 Championship Meet Saturday Maty 26 in North Reading.

D-S Boys' Lacrosse Beats Rival Medfield

The boys' beat the Warriors 7-5, Friday night.

The Dover-Sherborn boys’ varsity lacrosse team took a huge step towards a potential Tri-Valley League title with a 7-5 victory over two-time defending Division 2 State Champion Medfield in Dover Friday night. Jared Spence scored a hat trick for the Raiders and Ben Newbert added two goals of his own, as D-S won its second in a row over their neighbors. The D-S defense handled a dominant Warriors attack thanks in part to goalie Ryan Goodall’s 8 saves. D-S Head Coach Brian McLaughlin was proud of his team’s effort, “Any time that you can come out on top against Medfield it’s a good night. The defense played really well tonight, Ryan played well in net.” Medfield had strong goaltending of their own from goalie Dougie Nelson who made nine saves…

D-S Boys' and Girls' Track Pick Up Two Straight Wins This Week

The team has 16 individual athletes and three relay teams who have qualified for the D4 Sectional Meet in May.

The D-S boys' and girls' varsity track and field team (2-4) won their first two meets of the season this week, beating Ashland (4/24) and Millis (4/26). The boys' beat Ashland, 80-56, and the girls' won, 88.5-47.5, over the Clockers at home on Tuesday. Yesterday, both the boys' (117-13) and girls' (121-15) dominated over Millis at home picking up the second straight win for the Raiders. Strong performers for the team who finished first this week include Chandler Wood, Olivia Cannon, Cristyn Joline, Toby Howe, Will Mitchell, Connor McCormick, Dan Carroll and Chris Chislom.   Also this week, a number of D-S athletes recorded first place finishes for the first time this season including Molly McCormick, Michaela Ward, Michelle Alessandro, …

D-S Boys' and Girls' Track Fall to Rival Medfield

The boys' lost, 97-39, and the girls' were outscored, 92-44.

The Dover-Sherborn boys' and girls' varsity track and field team lost handily to Medfield Thursday. The boys' lost, 97-39, and the girls' were outscored, 92-44. Despite the lopsided score the Raiders got solid outputs from several athletes on the day. D-S won five out of six throwing events on the day; Dan Carroll in the discus,  Chris Chisholm in the javelin, Cristyn Joline in the shot put, Gabrielle McElrath in the javelin and Lauren Mitchell in the discus all won their events, respectively. For the racers, two girls came out on top. Chandler Wood came in first in the 400m and Julia Pearson was tops in the 2 mile. D-S Track Falls in Opener to Medway

The boys' lost, 70-66, while the girls' fell, 76.5-59.5.

The Dover-Sherborn track and field team fell to Medway Monday in their first meet of the season. The boys' lost, 70-66, while the girls' fell, 76.5-59.5. D-S got strong performances from Chandler Wood - who won the 400m and anchored the 4 x 400m relay to a first place finish - and Olivia Cannon - who won the 1 mile and the 2 mile. For the boys' junior Will Mitchell won the 100m and 200m. The Raiders had two athletes who earned points in three categories on the day. Veronica Mann placed second in the 200m and the high jump and was on a 4 X 100m team that earned points. Senior Teddy Mosher placed second in the mile, second in the 2 mile and third in javelin. Two D-S Students Named to Globe's All-Scholastics Team

Two D-S skiiers were honored for their outstanding performances this year.

The Boston Globe named D-S student-athletes Olivia Cannon and Rion O'Grady to its annual winter High School All-Scholastic team. Cannon won state title in the MIAA states nordic skiiing championship while O'Grady came in fourth place at states. The All-Scholastic winners were outstanding performers on fields, courses, courts and in rinks throughout eastern Massachusetts this winter. “The All-Scholastic winners represent not only incredible athleticism, but also sportsmanship and leadership both on and off the field,” said Bob Holmes, high school sports editor for The Boston Globe. “These athletes illustrate to us what playing high school sports is all about and they do it in an admirable way.” For a complete list of the All-Scholastic …

Boys' Hockey Loses Hard Fought Game to Pembroke

D-S finished the season with a record of 8-6-8.

One team was making only it's second playoff appearance in the past 20 years, while the other was looking to defend its 2011 sectional title. On paper it should have been a blow-out but on the ice it was a battle. The final score read 5-1 to the Pembroke Titans but the Dover-Sherborn boys’ hockey team made the three seed work for everything and, but for three unlucky bounces, could have pulled off a huge upset in the first round of the Division 3 tournament at the Bridgewater Ice Arena Wednesday night.  The Titans started quickly against a seemingly nervous D-S team in the first period, but went into the first intermission with only a 1-0 lead.
