Dover Police Log: Too Cold For Motorcycle

The following information was provided by the Dover Police Department. When an arrest is mentioned it does not indicate a conviction.

Thursday, November 29 Burglar Alarm (10:37 a.m.) - A burglar alarm went off at a house on Pinewood Rd. An officer checked and the front door was ajar. The door was secured and all was okay. Motor Vehicle Stop (1:49 p.m.) - An officer stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Willow St. and Cross St. A municipal citation was issued for possession of less than an ounce. Suspicious Motorcycle (7:43 p.m.) - A Valley Rd. resident called to report that a motorcycle keeps driving through the cul-de-sac and she believes this is suspicious because the weather is so cold. An officer spoke with the reporting party, as well as neighbors. The noise had stopped, so it appeared the motorcycle had left the area.

Dover Police Log: Bus Windshields Damaged

Sunday, November 25 OUI-Liquor (12:17 a.m.) - A motorist was stopped an arrested in the area of the Willow St. Bridge for Operating Under the Influence of Liquor. The individual was processed and bailed out about three hours later. Harassing Phone Calls (11:25 a.m.) - A Park Ave. resident called on behalf of her 19-year-old son to report "creepy" phone calls that he had received on his cell phone via a blocked number. There were no threats of violence and information was taken. The information was referred to Verizon for follow-up. Mailbox Destroyed (2:14 p.m.) - A resident of Grand Hill Dr. reported that his mailbox had been vandalized. The pole had been thrown in the street and the mailbox was missing. Wednesday, November 21 Fraudulent Call (11:30 a.m.) - A caller reported receiving a suspicious call advising her that she had unpaid back taxes. The reporting party stated that when she asked the caller questions the call sounded fraudulent and she ended the call. Move Truck (11:35 a.m.) - A caller from Cedar Hill Rd. reported that there is a construction truck and trailer that has been parked on the side of the road for three days. The caller said he wants it removed. The police contacted the company that owns the truck. Friday, November 23 Fireworks (1:18 a.m.) - A Dover Rd. resident reported that someone was lighting fireworks in the middle of the road. An officer spoke with the person setting off the fireworks and told them to stop. …

Dover Police Log: Gas and Run

Monday, November 19 Gas and Run (9:17 a.m.) - The Mobil gas station attendant contacted the police after someone had gassed up and driven off without paying. The attendent had gotten the license plate number, so the police called the owner of the vehicle, who stated it was his son, but that he would contact the gas station. The Mobil attendant later spoke to the police and confirmed that the person had paid in full. Logs Taken (11:31 a.m.) - A Hunt Dr. resident reported that someone had taken his freshly cut logs between November 6-18. Dover Police Log: Hit & Run with Bus

The following information was provided by the Dover Police Department. When an arrest is mentioned it does not indicate a conviction.

Friday, November 16 Lost Items (11:40 a.m.) - A caller reported that they were missing some items, including a backpack that had her identification in it. The bag was located at the Mobil and brought to the station. The owner of the backpack came in to the station to retrieve it not long after. Hit and Run (3:49 p.m.) - A school bus driver called in to report that about 20 minutes prior, just after he had dropped off the children, he was driving around a corner when an older model white Mercury Grand Marquis crossed the double yellow lines and struck the rear of the bus. The bus driver stated that he had stopped, but the other car did not.

Dover Police Log: Dog Bites Reported

Monday, November 12 Dog Bite (9:54 a.m.) - A Greenwood Dr. resident called to report that her neighbor's dog had bit her. The caller stated that she as going to get a ride to have it looked it by a doctor. The dog owner was instructed to keep the dog confined until the animal control officer made contact. Identity Theft (1:35 p.m.) - A Francis St. resident reports identity theft and larceny through an existing Macy's credit card and a newly initiated Best Buy credit card in the amount of $4,800. The victim was referred to the credit bureau and bank accounts, and has contacted both Macy's and Best Buy. Suspicious Activity (4:06 p.m.) - A caller wishing to remain anonymous requested that an officer check on some youths gathered in the cul-de…

Dover Police Log: When a Dog Attacks

Friday, November 9 Deer Hit (4:29 p.m.) - A caller reported that a car hit a deer on Centre St. The officer who responded reported that the deer ran back into the woods and the car's license plate was left behind. Dog Attack (7:44 p.m.) - A caller from Rolling Ln. reported that while out for a walk with her husband they were attacked by a dog that got out of its yard by getting past the electric fence. The caller stated that this has been an ongoing issue. An officer spoke with the dog owner, who stated that they didn't know it was an ongiong issue, but would replace the collar. Monday, November 5 Motor Vehicle Stop (10:35 a.m.) - A vehicle was being driven by an individual known to have a revoked license status on Centre St. A complaint was issued for Operation after Revocation. The vehicle was driven away by a licensed operator. Fraud (4:39 p.m.) - An Edgewater Dr. resident reported what she believed to be an attempted phone scam to help her with her hacked computer for a specified price. No financial or information losses were incurred, and the party was referred to the phone scam reporting agency. Tuesday, November 6 Dog Found (2:45 p.m.) - A Church St. resident called to request that an officer come to get an untagged golden retriever from her yard. Saturday, November 3 Suspicious Person (3:46 p.m.) - A Centre St. caller reported that a man came to her house requesting to come inside and take pictures of any damage from the storm. The caller state that the man was driving a grey/white Cadillac. She was unaware of why he was at her house. An officer was dispatched to the area, but the person was gone when they got there. Kid Vandals (10:48 p.m.) - A Pine St. resident called to report that there are kids throwing eggs at cars. Officers were dispatched to the scene, but the culprits were gone upon arrival. Dover Police Log: Dog Barking, Howling

Thursday, November 1 Barking Dog (8:44 a.m.) - A resident of Tubwreck Dr. reported that his neighbor's dog had been barking for about 35 minutes. An officer was sent to check out the area, but couldn't hear the barking. The Animal Control Officer was notified. Computer Crime (10:00 a.m.) - A Bretton Rd. resident reported that someone attempted to obtain money from him by wire transfer. The suspect emailed an official looking FBI notice posing as an FBI agent looking to resolve alleged pending Internet child pornography charges for money. This is a popular scam.
