Thanksgiving Football Preview: Medfield vs D-S

Here's what you need to know about this year's Turkey Day matchup.

  The Medfield Warriors will travel to the Dover-Sherborn Raiders in the teams' 47th annual Thanksgiving Day game.  WHEN: 10:00 a.m. Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 22 WHERE: Dover-Sherborn Regional High School, 9 Junction Street, Dover HOW MUCH: Tickets will be sold at the gate on game day for $10 general admission and $5 students/seniors. TEAM RECORDS: The Warriors are 3-7; the D-S Raiders are 1-9. HISTORY OF RIVALRY: Medfield currently leads its Thanksgiving Day series with D-S, 24-18-4 but D-S has won the last three meetings, including last year’s 14-8 victory over the Warriors in Medfield. Here is a glimpse at residents of Medfield, Dover, Sherborn, and Westwood who have died, or who have relatives who have died, recently.

His greatest pride and joy were his daughters and grandchildren.  Muriel Morrison Callahan, 90, worked for 45 years with the Sears, Roebuck and Co. as a catalog Sales Manager. Helen C. (Dzerkacz) Gately, 91 of Dover, was a devoted and active member of The Ladies Sodality and St. Casimir's Church (Maynard) which her father helped establish for the Polish community in town.  Maryhelena Schomer, 60, was a state trooper and senior investigator for the New York State Police.  Andrew J. Kapravy, 79, was raised in Westwood and was a well-respected engineer holding several patents for his work including one for his team's invention of non-kinkable wire…

Raiders Capture First Div. 3 East Title

Nine-goal outburst propels Dover-Sherborn boys lacrosse team to first Div. 3 East state title in school history.

BOSTON – It was the biggest game in the history of North Reading boys lacrosse, but it may have been the best game Dover-Sherborn played all year. The Raiders exploded for a nine-goal outburst and turned a two-goal first quarter deficit into a seven-goal third quarter lead and cruised to a 16-6 win to take the Eastern Massachusetts Division 3 crown yesterday at Harvard Stadium. The Raiders were paced by a huge five-goal performance from junior Brandon Jaeger. “It’s unbelievable really,” Jaeger said. “These seniors worked so hard, and I just wanted to give it all to them. Norton Boys Golf Pulls Away With the Win Over D-S

D-S loses to Norton 256-249.

Dover-Sherborn High School boys golf lost to Norton yesterday by 7 strokes in metal play 256-249.  “We struggled with our first match yesterday, but did pull out the victory,” said Norton Head Coach Ryan Riley. “We struggled with mental mistakes, but did finish strong.”  Norton had low scores from junior Evan Ryan (38), senior Zach Schuster (40) and senior Joe Dilorenzo (41).  Jack Condon had the low round for the day for D-S with a 4 over 40  “We struggled a bit yesterday with consistency,” said D-S coach Elliott Lucil.  D-S currently stands 3-2 for the season. Their next match is Monday at home against Holliston. Norton, 1-1, will face Hopkinton at home Thursday.
