The following information was provided by Nancy Simms from the Dover Council on Aging: Twenty members of the Dover Sherborn High School football team, half as many parents and Head Coach Joey Schotland came together to provide a variety of fall services to fifteen of Dover’s senior residents. The 2012 annual DSHS Football – Dover COA Fall Community Service Day took place on Saturday October 13 and was a huge success for all involved. The high school boys performed a variety of yard work services for their Senior neighbors including, leaf raking, brush clearing, bush trimming, and driveway sweeping. With some key injuries early in the season, the Raiders have struggled on the field, but with some of their injured players expected to return soon, DS hopes to turn the corner soon.

The following was submitted by Gil Thorpe: Young football teams make mistakes, and Dover-Sherborn is a very young team. With only 4 seniors dressed for their opening Tri-Valley game with Holliston, turnovers told the tale for the second straight game as the host Raiders fell 40-0. Senior captains Steve Alessandro (WR/DB) & Andy Van Dore (OT/MLB), along with seniors Mike Vaughan (OT/DT) and Dylan Davies (LB) led the young Raiders, but after giving up an opening touchdown to the visiting Panthers, a series of miscues including a fumble returned for a touchdown, an interception returned to the DS 5 yard line and a half dozen missed tackles gave the visitors 3 easy scores and Dover-Sherborn trailed 34-0 at half. Gridiron Club expecting exciting season for Raiders.
The following was submitted by Dick Stoner: JOIN THE DS GRIDIRON CLUB! Football Fans everywhere are invited to support the Dover Sherborn Gridiron Club by not only joining the club but also by enjoying the competition the football season schedule has to offer. The Gridiron Club is a volunteer group that has been busy organizing events and planning fundraisers to help raise money and provide what a winning football team needs: coaches, scouts, equipment, clothing and advocacy. You donʼt need to be a football parent or family member to join the club. Former players, alumni, or any sort of football fan in the community will enjoy the competition under the Friday night lights at the recently completed and beautiful new state-of-the-art turf …

Dover-Sherborn wins third straight Thanksgiving tilt against Medfield with a 14-8 victory Thursday.
MEDFIELD – Dover-Sherborn beat rival Medfield Thursday morning, 14-8, at Medfield High School, giving the Raiders their third Thanksgiving Day win in a row over the Warriors. Medfield was plagued by turnovers throughout the game, giving up the ball on both their first and last possessions of the game. The Warriors only touchdown came in the first quarter on a 60-yard pass to wide receiver Tim Bernard from quarterback Alex Opiela. The Raiders first touchdown also came in the first quarter when quarterback Rogers Boylan rushed the ball up the middle from the 1-yard line. The difference came in the fourth quarter when Boylan threw a touchdown pass to wide receiver Steve Alessandro to give D-S the 14-8 lead. Medfield had a chance to get back …

Rivalry, Tradition and Bragging Rights – that’s Thanksgiving Day Football.
Thursday’s Turkey Day tilt between Dover-Sherborn and Medfield will feature all of the above as both teams meet for the 46th time Thursday at 10 a.m. at Medfield’s Calvin George Fisher Memorial Field. With the win the Raiders stopped a five-game losing streak.
The Raiders dominated on Senior Night winning, 48-19, over Ashland. D-S had a huge night offensively scoring seven touchdowns, six on the ground and one through the air. The Raiders were down early in the game after Ashland recovered the opening kickoff and went on to score a touchdown. However, they missed the PAT. The Raiders responded on their next drive with a touchdown of their own taking the lead, 7-6, which they would not relinquish for the rest of the game. The Dover-Sherborn defense also had a strong game intercepting three Clockers passes and shutting down their running game. Seniors Billy Polk and Jonathan Marston each scored two rushing touchdowns.
