Court Reverses Conviction of Dover Man Who Allegedly Raped 15-year-old Girl

William Polk of Dover was convicted in Massachusetts Superior Court on two charges of statutory rape in Feb. 2010. Those convictions were reversed on Friday, April 13.

A Dover man who was sentenced to four to five years in prison after being convicted of allegedly raping a then 15-year-old girl had the decision reversed and will face retrial, the state's highest court said last Friday. William Polk of Dover was convicted in Norfolk Superior Court on two charges of statutory rape in Feb. 2010. He appealed his conviction and was granted his application for direct appellate review. The Massachusetts Supreme Court ruled that the exclusion of evidence "was prejudicial error and therefore reverse the convictions and remand the case for a new trial."
