The Sherborn Board of Selectmen put a freeze on hiring part-timers that receive benefits and pension at their meeting Thursday night.
Here are some notes from the Sherborn Board of Selectmen's meeting Thursday night: Downtown Revitalization The Sherborn Planning Board presented an update on the revitalization of Sherborn’s downtown at the Selectmen’s meeting Thursday night. Chair of the Planning Board John Higley noted that in each of the town’s master plans revised over the years they all wrote about updating the town center. Personnel Board members cited the Selectmen's accusations of no confidence as their reason for stepping down.
Personnel Board Chair Grace Shepard read a five page statement in response to Selectmen Chair Tom Twining and Selectman Paul DeRensis stating that the current Personnel Board were ineffective in their minutes and left the town liable and open to litigation, at the Selectmen meeting Thursday night. Visibly upset at the end of her reading, Shepard handed the Selectmen a copy of her speech, informed them that the resignations of all three of the Personnel Board members, Grace Sherpard, Ron Arigo and Judi Miller, were included and left the room. In summary, Shepard said the Personnel Board was accused of leaving, “the town vulnerable to litigation and liability regarding our handling of two sexual harassment complaints, our lack of oversight …

In case you missed it, here are a few links to some of the things we covered this week at Dover-Sherborn Patch:

Sherborn's Personnel Board discussed information to try and rebut accusations made by members of the Board of Selectmen at their meeting on Tuesday.
The Sherborn Personnel Board met on Tuesday to confer on how to respond to accusations made by members of the Board of Selectmen, at their meeting on July 21, of not looking out for the interests of the town and recording inadequate minutes. The claims were brought up in the meeting by Selectmen Chair Tom Twining and Selectman Paul DeRensis. Chair of the Personnel Board Grace Sherpard and committee members Ron Arrigo and Judi Miller retrieved emails between …

Absolutely disgraceful behavior yet again. Even when the Personnel Board had written documentation to show that they had done nothing wrong, DeRensis and Twining couldn't let it go. They just did a great disservice to the town. And as far as DeRensis's quote regarding the new lone member of Personnel, “We need a Personnel Board that is gonna be part of our team". Shouldn't that be THE team?   more ›
