Up to 5 Inches Predicted for Dover, Sherborn

Heavy snow is expected through the evening.

The National Weather service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Dover and Sherborn area between 7 a.m. today and 1 p.m. Friday. Heavy, wet snow and strong winds are expected to adversely impact travel, particularly Thursday night into Friday morning. A snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches is expected. A winter weather advisory is issued when between 2 to 6 inches of snowfall is expected. Dover and Sherborn aren't predicted to get hit as hard as their neighbors to the west, which could get up to 8 inches, according to the National Weather Service. Drivers throughout the state, however, are being advised that the roads will become slippery overnight, and strong winds could result in power outages.

Snow, Sleet and Freezing Rain for Tonight

The National Weather Service is predicting slippery conditions will impact the evening commute.

Temperatures are finally climbing out of the basement, but not far enough to prevent a little snow this afternoon, turning into freezing rain just in time for the evening commute.  The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for 1 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday.   Beginning in eastern Massachusetts between 3 and 5 p.m., snow, about 1 to 2 inches, is expected to start, changing to sleet and freezing drizzle between 7 and 9 p.m.  The National Weather Service warns that the snow and ice "will cause slippery driving and walking conditions on untreated roads and sidewalks," and that the evening rush hour is expected to be messy. Temperatures are predicted to hover around the 30s.
