Going to the Movies Baseball Style

Top 10 baseball movies of all time are listed. What are your favorite baseball movies of all time?

  With another baseball season under way, it's time to go to the movies with our bats and gloves. Here's a look at the top 10 baseball movies in this scribe's opinion. 10- For the Love of the Game (1999)- Kevin Costner is an aging all-star pitcher for the Detroit Tigers, who has one last game in his right arm, facing the New York Yankees. Vin Scully says, "he isn't pitching against the Yankees, he's pitching against time." Through nine innings, Costner traces his life and his relationship with Kelly Preston. Guys, the women in your life, will like this one. 9. Fever Pitch (2005)-This movie was a little over the top. Us, you know, Red Sox fans, are nothing like the Jimmy Fallon character. That's absurd. I'd like to agree with you but I can't, because it was re-made in 2005 starring Billy Bob Thornton... Not nearly as good as the original but still, a strong enough movie for Hollywood to re-make it.   more ›

Best Movies of 2011? Patch Editors Tell You Their Picks

As we say good-bye to 2011, Patch editors are looking back at the best of the year in their eyes.

  What was the best movie of 2011? Usually, our editors are the ones asking the questions for the New Year's weekend, but we're turning the tables a bit. We've been asked for our top picks in movies, books, songs, person of the year, event of the year and best Boston sports moment. In round one, we give our top films of 2011. After reading ours, please share yours with us in the comment section. Mike Gleason, Wrentham Patch Editor- The Adventures of Tintin. In a somewhat disappointing 2011 (Transformers and Twilight were both top grossers), I'd say the best movie I saw was the most recent. Tintin is Steven Spielberg's first animated feature, and he imbued it with the sense of adventure that made the Indiana Jones series such a joy to watch…

All those films were were great, esp. Moneyball, and Tattoo... Some honorable mentions would be, "Rise of the Planet of the Apes", "Warrior", and "Limitless"... And my will heart always belong to "Transformers 3"...... Every movie was great except for the WORST MOVIE EVER: "New Years Eve"!!! J ust terrible......... Great article.   more ›
