ReplyI really hope they reopen. I loved their food, and their service was exceptional. They were one of the few places where I would walk in and they would know me by name. It had a great hometown feel, and it almost always seemed busy. I wish they never closed their doors - they were awesome 'as is'! There are so many great businesses in town, but it's still sad to see one close like this.

On the blog post Snow Removal Ordinance is Needed

ReplyAs someone who walks a ton around town, the snow on the sidewalks has been so hard to maneuver around lately. I would fully support this type of ordinance. One home on Main Street I walked by today had the snow plow push the snow from their driveway into a wall that anyone using the sidewalk would have to climb over. It's the same house that during the non-snowy months parks a car blocking the entire sidewalk leaving anyone - handicapped or otherwise - with having to walk into the busy road or onto their lawn. I've called the police once to speak of this, and they tell me they'll drive by but there is nothing they can do. I don't understand how any decent person could look at that blockage and think it's okay. And I know for a fact the people who live in the house in question aren't handicapped or elderly where they wouldn't have the ability to clear their sidewalk. If you start a petition for this cause, I will sign it right away and urge others to do the same.

Mike - I come back to the main page of my town to get my town's news - and as you probably know, the feed that is on every homepage has been nothing but cluttered with negativity. I actually only visited this post once, to make my initial comment based solely on what I kept seeing on the feed. In the past, when users have requested a comment thread be shut down, it has - so that was my intent.

I wish the editors would shut this post down. I don't understand how so many people can be so demeaning to those of differing opinions! Everyone has the same goal - reduce crime. There very well may be more than one road to get there. Respect those who don't agree with you, and let that be that. I can guarantee you one thing - nobody is changing their opinion by reading a thread on a site like this. They are however embarrassing themselves spouting out things in a way that is not becoming, and I'm talking to people on both sides of the argument and I have been guilty of this in other threads in the past. I personally don't think a site like Patch should be used for fundamental large-issue debates - they never come out looking respectable. Patch should be used to discuss more local issues. The debates might not always be civil, but at least it might shed some light on matters people may need to learn about. Those are just my two cents. I'm sure someone will swoop in and attack me for this opinion.

ReplyVery sad. I would love it if the Patch could hire more writers and focus on more content specifically for each community (I know I know, money!). I totally see the benefit in cross-posting, but there is way too much. There were also many news stories I saw exclusively on Daily Voice and exclusively on Patch - I can't help but think important happenings are going to slip through the cracks. Best of luck to all the writers who are looking for work.

Can you really not see the difference between being opposed to factory farming where animals are force-fed in horrible conditions vs. protecting the well-being of citizens from a dangerous wild animal? Or are you saying vegans don't like either - eating meat AND the police killing the coyotes? Either way, people are entitled to stand up for what they want to when it comes to animal welfare. I'm not even vegan but your comment was disrespectful (and poorly expressed) - more power to those who want to eat organically and meat/dairy free.

ReplyDean Park Pizza DID NOT CLOSE ON 2/24 and they are going to be open for a couple more weeks before renovations! I had lunch there yesterday. Please fix this misinformation as this type of story could hurt their business.

ReplyDPP is NOT closing today - in fact they'll be open for a few more weeks. I think Patch should run a new story as this info is no longer accurate and could potentially hurt their business if people think they are closed. I went for a "last supper" today and they told me the good news. They are a great local business, have super friendly staff, and great food. I would hate to see their business hurt in any way.

I think Mr. Austin has the right to his opinion, as do the other commenters. What concerns me is that Patch is featuring what is a letter to the editor as a news story that appears to be from them. Anytime there is a political matter, it should be reported on objectively. It's journalism 101. I would encourage Patch to run a piece that covers both sides of the issue, taking information from both sides, instead of relying on one opinion from someone working against this project.
