Fruits, veggies and… Teeth?

Swimsuit season is here, so you might be eating a bit healthy lately - a good thing!  Fruits and vegetables are not only good for your heart, body and mind, but, for example, did you know that celery is also good for your oral health?  Eating celery produces plenty of saliva, which neutralizes various cavity-causing bacteria. Also, when you eat raw celery it has a massaging effect on the gums and can help clean the gaps between your teeth—it's a masseuse and a makeshift toothbrush, talk about a miracle vegetable!  Regarding fruits, strawberries can whiten teeth as well.  WOW!

Just be sure to cut either of these into bite-sized pieces if you have braces on!  And, don't forget to floss that stringy celery and tiny stubborn strawberry seeds out when snack time is over!
